Remembered too late, and paid for it
The appointment was in the calendar. The parcel notice was on the fridge. You still remembered on the day after, and the late fee or the return shipment was the price. The fix is not a better memory: it is a reminder that arrives before the date, out loud, and a second one on the day.
What to say
“Dentist on the 12th at 10, remind me a day before.”
Say the date, the time and how early you want the nudge: “three days before”, “the evening before” or “the morning of” work the same way.
What happens next
- AI turns the sentence into one task with two alarms: the early nudge on the 11th and the real one on the 12th at 10. You see both on the confirm screen before anything is scheduled.
- Each alarm is a real iOS alarm through Apple’s AlarmKit: it rings on silent and in Focus, and it says the task, so “Dentist tomorrow at 10” is the first thing you hear, not a banner you have to read.
- The nudge and the day-of alarm stay on the task. Open it to move the date or change how early the nudge comes.
Make it stick
- Bills and renewals: “car insurance on the 30th, remind me three days before” gives you time to actually pay, not just to know.
- For something you must not miss at all, add “remind me a few times”: the day-of alarm comes back 15 and 45 minutes later until you mark it done.
- Far-off dates can count down instead: “count down to my exam on the 30th” rings every day and says how many days are left.
